Pen-Y-Ghent
Sitting on the Yorkshire Dales and one of the famous 3 Peaks of North Yorkshire, Pen-Y-Ghent is not the highest mountain in the area but it extremely popular climb.
Standing at a height of 2277 feet it is an imposing and possibly a somewhat daunting sight from the popular starting point from the village of Horton in Ribblesdale but for the first part of the walk it is a pleasant climb over grassy dales and only the last part of the accent really requires some hands and feet scrambling. Once on the peak one has beautiful views of the surrounding dales and countryside
