Description
This Bumble Bee reminded me of childhood encounter. Going back in time some 48 years or so; Wow, I shouldn’t bee able to remember that far back I don’t fell that old hang on a minute………….Ok just checked the mirror and yep I’m getting old, LOL. Anyway enough with the depressing stuff ….smile.
When I was about 8 or 9 years old my across the street neighbor Larry and I were playing cowboys and Indians; not sure what part I was playing but I was trying to get away from which ever one Larry wasn’t. There was this old shed in his backyard with a dilapidated old fence around it that wouldn’t keep anything out or in let alone a 8 or 9 year old cowboy or Indian trying to find a good place to hide. We had been told not to play back there a number of times but it was just to cool a hide out and the draw was too great so eventually we would gravitate back to the old shed.
On this particular day that’s where I was heading I had a good lead on the others they hadn’t see me enter the fence what a great place to hide no body would ever find me in the old shed. Once inside the fence it was a straight be line to the door and I was safe. Well it didn’t quite happen that way as I recall. Something bad happened; just as I entered the shed I seen it briefly a split second before it hit me right between the eyes a BUMBLE BEE. It was bigger than a horse and faster than superman and more powerful than a locomotive knocked me flat on my back.
When they found me my eyes were as big as silver dollars my mouth was wide open and I was screaming like a banshee. My buddies helped me up and took me as far as the end of my driveway, they hadn’t been in the shed or inside of the fence they weren’t in trouble and wasn’t going to put themselves in harms way. I was alone on my own with a knot on my head the size of a watermelon not to mention I was still crying by now partly from pain mostly from fear. But surely Mom and Dad would show mercy after all I was in great pain surely there would be no spanking surely.
I seen the concern on their faces when I walked through the door; son what happened to you, I was stung by a bee boo hoo, hoo played it to the hilt. After being doctored both eyes now beginning to swell shut this watermelon hanging off my head my dad says, where were you at. I lied, they knew, oh crap I thought and this was the next question; son haven’t I told you not to go back to that old shed to PLAY, yes dad but, haven’t I told you…………………………but dad. To shorten the story A most remembered by me anyway quote “son this is going to hurt me more than it does you” and with that it wasn’t long before my butt was more of a concern than my now healing head; crime doesn’t pay, LOL.
But what about that darn bee; well that’s another story!!!
BTW it really didn’t hurt him more than it did me or at least that’s the way I seen it………….felt it, LOL.
What do you think after all that did I go back to the old shed to play or not, smile? Thanks for stopping by and for any comment you care to leave, Have a great and creative weekend, CYA

Wow, I shudder at the thought of your childhood trauma, eagle! I remember that when I was a youngster, it was an accepted fact that bumble bees would sew up the ears of humans, so we were sure to cover ours with our hands if one of these critters was zipping around the area. Anyway, beautiful colors, composition, and stellar sharp focus contrasted against the blurred background.

Wonderful shot, rich and beautiful color! That little 'ball' he is sitting on is awesome and he sits on it it perfectly for your shot, perfect clarity!!! Lovely soft background! Love your story, I went thru a similar thing on the chopping block and a swarm...it was a weird thing to have honey bees swarm there instead of at their hive!
