Wow Mark, once again I consider myself so lucky as I hadn't left for the day yet and saw you had uploaded a new image. What a great way to start they day and get inspiration by viewing this dedi to your Grandmother. It's instanly easy to see all the love poured into this one and I'd very much like to know the story behind it and your thoughts on it if you would share them. It's easy to imagine for myself what they might be as I see one that resembles a jewelry box like my Mother has. While another could be a box of candies that was given to her that has a special place in your heart. They are all beautiful and expressive and remind me a lot of some stained glass work I saw in Guaralajara long ago.

WOW How many beautiful little images. I am happy I dont need to chose between the, as I wouldnt know which of them to prefare. Each one is exiting in its own way. The first makes me think about the finest brocade. It has a gorgeous color. the second makes me think about a beehive. Very beautiful. The thirth looks like a cliff, but it is symmetric, so I dont know, but I like it alot. The fourth is the most interesting. THat one looks like a really old fascioned Bonnet. The one the women sewed the most complicated embroderies on. I is very very beautiful. The fifth does also look like the most lovely brocade. Awesome and the 6th makes me thing of a teabox I once had, that I treasured until it was too rusty :-)the last one looks like a final celebrating banner for you love to your grand mother. In all a wonderful line of gorgeous art, my friend.

The moment I saw the title, I thought of my grandmothers. Each and every one of these is a jewel, a marvel, and they sparkle and glow.. I can smell one grandmother's applesauce cookies, and remember the other one who taught me to crochet. You gave us a gift and it is priceless. This radiates with love and light.

There are wonderful things and memories we have of our grandmothers that truly are treasures. Just adore how you have captured and visualized some of your memories. Each has a unique feel. I see lace and jewelry, fun, and much love. CC

I seevery much what Helle sees, but the third one is definitely a tooth! Did you get money for your deciduous teeth? I didn't, but I got a cute little box from her to put them in. All gorgeous, I'm inspired to do some memories of my grandmother, but they will be actual objects I think!

it's what keeps their memory alive for us isn't it dearheart. It shows in the work.

I love these objects, whether real or imagined. I see antique glass, a scroll, a spool of thread. Russia and religion, silk and diamonds, tests and perseverence and victories. Love and loss, things of great value, and things that were made by the hand of a child. Through all these pieces of your grandmother's heart I see your own heart, my friend. These are beautiful, and some of your best work.

A multitude of separate awesome images, each depicting something of a different color -- much of it beet red -- lighting and textural theme, Mark! Lots of paisley stuff among the different effects. And the second image shows something other worldly through the eye of a fly.

As Dave mentioned, I'ld love to know more details about her. I like the vibrant pink theme running through these images, suggesting to me a woman who is feminine, colorful, and bold. I also see sparkling keepsakes like a prized jewel or diamond, possibly a decorated trunk, or keepsake box, (which could evolve from one to the other) a mountain range reflecting sunsets or sunrises or is it a crown reflecting that light? a Russian Faberge egg, and as we go along the images become less easy for me to decipher (even though I could be wrong about the others, I've already commented on). I see an aerial view of a river, and a mountain of memories, some beautiful, some dark until the end it is like a tapestry or scroll showing a rich and colorful life and memories all swirling together in harmony. It is hard for me to know what an artist has in mind in abstract works, but I get a sense of her through these images, and she must have been a fine, interesting and soulful woman. I'm sure she was grateful to have such a talented and caring grandson like you.

exceptional series of memories from the heart! i mean yours, that draws from the memory of her! remembered thing from a little ancient world, that of childhood, and the treasure box of odd earrings and buttons. Lace-brimmed cloths and towels, old lamps and perfumed candles made at home ... Splendid work!

I saw this when I first opened your page and had to come see it! You touched my heart deeply with this one, bringing forth images in my mind of the things my gran shared in her life. I can see why Dave (magnus073) likes your work so much, your passion and heart shines as his does. Starting at the top, I remember the beautiful velvet box that gran kept some of her most prized things in, I never tired of looking into that box so like a treasure chest full of love. The second image reminds me of her button and rhinestone jewelry collection. I think she must have had tens of thousand of pieces so every time you looked it was as if you were seeing them for the first time, polished metal, sparkling stones and rhinestones. I never cared much for 'glitz' or buttons but I loved every minute of sharing and reliving her excitement, for the history that she shared with each piece. The third reminds me of her hundreds of beautiful candles, all strategically placed by mirrors where the light from the flame was captured and bounced back into the room. To this day I place my candles in front of and on mirrors that reflect a peaceful ambiance and tho I use different scents than her, I remember the soft wonderful scents in the room from her candles. The fourth reminds me of her handwork. Aside from being an English teacher, she was a seamstress and if she had no clothing to sew she would then turn to every handcraft imaginable and this reminds me of crochet and bead work. The fourth and fifth reminds me of all the bolts of fabric that she had, skeins of yarn and afghans that she made as gifts for everyone. She had many bolts of brocades and silks, walking into her craft room was a virtual rainbow! And last but certainly not least, the sixth reminds me of her beautiful gardens, every color of flower, many that were brought from overseas and are everywhere nowadays. I apologize for the length of my comment but I simply had to tell you how much this touched me. Its very beautiful, so full of heart and a magnificent work! Thank you so much for sharin this one!

Well... I can't hold a candle to the previous comment. I actually quit reading so I could write what I saw first. Here is what I see....A satin covered diary with an antique broach clasp, the jewels from her mother's ring, a hand blown glass paperweight that shimmers in the light, her favorite necklace from her beau, perhaps, large stones that were loose in her jewelry box, the exquisite satin and lace from her favorite blouse, and finally - her favorite silk scarf that she liked to wear because it matched everything. It is very beautiful Mark and oh so precious. Congrats on a very touching piece of work.

It's mostly feelings I get from these little jewels from the heart .. the uniqueness of each of us .. the daily routines always the same so they can be counted on .. the highs and lows of life (and even the deciduous teeth, grins) .. the little bits of beauty like rare bits of lace in each day .. the ability to see a thing in more then one way .. and the ability to see the bigger picture .. these are the things we learn from our grandmothers, God Bless Them All.
