Description
I'm posting this one to show you my smile of satisfaction at seeing that my world's new order is almost accomplished. Yet a feeling of unease is nagging at me: if a croc's tears mean that he's happy about his doings, what does a smile mean? maybe he (she?) has no lips, this is why! it's giving me a philosphical headache, when it's 100° F (40° C) and 95 per cent humidity. Maybe it's not philosophy, but heat that's melting my brain.
The weather forecast said that the wave of low pression and African heat had to stop today and start raining. It didn't. Here our weathermen are like the Monsieur de Lapalisse, who gave origin to the Italian adjective lapalissiano, which means an obvious truth. He was an officer of king Francis I of France, who died at the battle of Pavia (near Milan) in Italy against the Spaniards in the 16th century. According to the story, Monsieur de Lapalisse before dying was still alive. This is a lapalissian (obvious) truth. Going back to our weathermen, at 1 p.m. they foresaw that this morning (!) it was sunny. Thank you very much, I already knew it! but they didn't explain why it didn't rain as they told us last night!
BTW, this croc is a Floridan, in a croc farm, shot when a shaft of sun hit his (her?) mouth by sheer luck. Sorry for the rantings, and thanks for your kind comments.
