Description

I will take more photos of this place. it a wonder to me that they have some much stuff with in 20 miles from here and I still finding things to photo and history to learn. this is just outside St Martinville, La. USA. Charles Durand, pre- Civil War sugar planter is credited with the planting of this alley. In legend a family wedding party rode down the alley canopied by gaint spider webs dusted with gold and silver. Wonder if i can find some of the gold dust? I know they call it a alley but i do not know why for it between two big sugar cane fields and that is a green color house at the end of the alley. This is way out in the county. and the trees is live oaks with spainish moss. I read a lot on how the moss came about. One story is they had two lovely man and wife who just got marry. They set out to make a pantional[means big farm] anyway the Indian came and killed them and as the indian set out to go home they saw the spainish moss on the trees and know they did wrongfor the moss just started to grow on the trees for the first time after the marry couple was killed. Every where these indians went the Moss grow on the trees like by magic. This is around 1pm shot here thanks for looking and comments. I behind comments for I had a big update with the computor. took 3 hours lol and wasted my little time I have on the web.

Beautiful serene scene .. I love these back country roads .. the unpaved ones are the best. The Hollow is on a dirt road.
