I dont think of myself as an artist - more a creatively minded laymen. Im blessed with perpetual inspiration, but cursed by a lack of talent.
I have always loved to sketch, and on the odd occasion even paint. Unfortunately for me, a real world canvas doesnt have an undo button. This is why, back in 1996, I first started toying with a Shareware version of Paint Shop Pro (found on the cover of a magazine). I knew almost instantly that digital art was for me.
Fast forward to 2006, when I discovered a highly under-rated (yet unfortunately limited) program called FaceGen. Within hours of tinkering with the software I was creating realistic characters well beyond anything I could have managed via traditional mediums. But what to do about bodies for my newly created digital brethren?
I took it upon myself to scour the internet in search of a 3D software package that was flexible enough to fulfil my specific needs, while still being NOOB friendly. Untimely I didnt want to spend months, or even years deciphering the ins and outs of 3D Studio Max for instance.
It wasnt long before I caught digital whisperings of a program called Poser, which lead me eFrontiers very own site.
In search of more examples of Poser art I found myself inevitably at Renderosity...and I havent looked back since.
The community here is certainly a mixed bunch (as are all communities, online especially), but in the great majority they have proven to be incredibly helpful, and wonderfully supportive.
If you plan on commenting on my images (and I certainely hope you do) while praise is always appreciated, critical analysis and constructive criticism is encouraged.
Happy rendering!

Look great. Did you have to use the morph brush to tweak any folds after running the cloth simulation?

He looks very dapper, you did a wonderful job. I too purchased the Pro bundle, I don't know why, I hardly ever use people in my scenes. I just couldn't resist his charm (lol). You made him look even better. Great render.

Very cook. I like his facial expression very much.

Thanks for the comments everyone. yelocloud - Yes, I use the morph brush here and there to smooth out a few strange folds. I have to do this for most dynamic clothing anyway, so it wasn't a big deal :).

I've never tried to make clothes, don't know the first thing about it... do you know of any good video tutorials for beginners on the cloth room??? - you did great on the shirt... you aught to market it - but, before you do, come up with some kick ass design like OP did years ago but use it as YOUR BRAND of clothing... I plan on doing that - someday, when I get there.

Thanks Mike. Good to see you around. I’m sure there are video tutorials out there for the Cloth Room, but I’ve never used one. I tend to learn by way of experimentation…which while more fun (and rewarding in some respects) is arguably a far slower process. I’ll be happy to send you a step-by-step guide to how I do things. PM me if you (or anyone else) is interested. The beauty of this way of making clothing is it’s made for that precise character, regardless of morph or scale. I wouldn’t dream of selling this shirt, or even making it available in Free-stuff because it’s designed specifically for my custom Freak morph. Besides, it’s Daz’s mesh I’m using (or at least part of their mesh) and I doubt they’d take kindly to me selling it piece by piece. :)
