Description
Emmy Lou Packard (1914-1998), a prominent artist and social activist, worked with Diego Rivera on the Rincon Annex murals in San Francisco and was a friend to his wife Frida Kahlo. She was instrumental in the creation of the Mendocino Headlands State Park in 1972.

How very odd. I have spent a great deal of time here - my son works for Mendocino High School not far from this plaque. One of my favorite spots in the area is a restful stop at The Headlands State Park to watch the waves crash on the rocks, the wide variety of birds fly along in the salt spray and look out at the horizon where sea meets sky.
