Description

Looks better full size. In my previous image (link below) I told you that that moon was going to be a detail in another image. Well, this was that image. Originally, that moon was going to be here, a companion to this sun. The sun would be smaller, of course, and so would the moon. I decided to split the concept in two images because the sun and the moon were too competing focal points, I couldn't have them both present simultaneously. This gave me the opportunity to better show both the sun and the moon, each one in its own image. The only postwork in this image are the sig, frame and some smoke here and there. All the rest came straight out of Vue render engine, including the sun. In Vue there's no way to apply a material or a texture to the sun object, but almost everything can be done in Vue, with a bit of patience and imagination. :-) I hope you enjoy watching. thumb_1936161.jpg

Reminds me of a scene in HG Wells' The Time Traveler, where the Time Machine is at the end of the world, with the swollen red sun. VERY evocative picture of what it might be like just before the Sun swells into a red giant and swallows up the Earth. Great pic.

I can almost feel the heat...but she looks cool and protected. Considering the title and the state of the sun it should feel menacing and alarming, but I get amazement and calm. Maybe its the vastness of the landscape and the fascinating structures. What will be will be.
