Description

Please watch full size, some details are hardly visible otherwise. City lights in the moon... why not? Just give it time. I imagined that the organization of the cities there would take advantage of the craters and therefore would be vaguely based on circular shapes. I know it's debatable... but I also wanted circular shapes there for symbolic reasons, continue reading. This moon was going to be just a detail in another image that I've been on and off preparing in the last few days. But I realized that this moon had a life of its own, it couldn't just be a detail somewhere. Thinking about what should be the companion of this moon, it became obvious that I needed a feminine form. So, I tried to create a composition where the moon and the feminine form complemented each other. Both are partly in light, partly in darkness, both have round smooth shapes and they are connected by her arm and by the bridge/arch in the moon. By making the woman support her weight on one foot, I made her hip more prominent so that it could vaguely resemble the shape of a moon when hit by the light. Thoughts of the 'sacred feminin' did cross my mind when creating this composition. I hope you enjoy watching.

I like the deepness of your thoughts here, and your vision is very well executed. I wonder now if someone on the moon is actually watching the planet where this woman is, and if same connection is happening between this person and the planet he/she is looking...

Yes! indeed why not city lights on the moon. I'll never live to see it though except in your art. Really like the subtle lighting in this. :-)

The total concept is captivating supported with picturesque description. I also love how you emphasized the woman's figure, the contrast of the image and the aura that surrounds her make this art exceptional. Truly a master work! Well done!

Beautiful concept and well executed. I like the idea of a developed moon in some far future... (actually I've used a differently developed moon in some of my recent art work). The side lighting on the figure of the woman and the silhouette of her hand against the lighted side of the moon are most effective. Excellent work as ever! P.S. Enjoyed your tutorial on the geek at play site.

You do know that your moon-city lights are brighter than the sunlight on the bright side of the Moon? They must be growing pot in those dark-side moon domes! LOLOLOLOL ^__^V,, Other than the brightness effect, it's a pretty good picture. That brightness bothers me, though. For an alien moon, fine. It isn't OUR moon, though. At night, the bright-side of the moon is blindingly bright with that much illuminated by the sun. I'm sorry, but it just doesn't look right. It does work from an artistic POV, though. It's well structured and a powerful image, my quibbles aside.

Nice one ! Great lunar glow , is that a suspended mega highway that circumfrances the moon ?

Seems that the woman cast a visible spell on the moon, maybe I got this impression by the elegance of the city lights shape. Astonishing though !
