Ooh! That is so cool! I like how it looks like it's been carved into sandstone or such. Excellent.

what a completely whole universe you create, something I feel anew each time I come back to your gallery. I see the hands in that graphic style typical of advertising & promotional design of the late 19th/early 20th centuries (also typical of manuals, academic illustration, etc); but they're surrounded by a webwork of pipes/ropes/almost etch-like intestines, and they wind their way through the whole piece, making 'openings' for your hands. The rope-circles in the center emphasize that 'rope' feeling (there are types of rope art found esp in the American West); and scattered throughout the darker middle section are generic organic things—ie, organs, body parts & what appear to be 19th c. figure drawings (like women in victorian attire) or downright glyphic carvings. As you do well, these figures are ambiguous—they could be this, could be that. And it's as if the 'hands' are just the surface of the work, underneath which is a subtle iconography of its own. Further, the rope-like figures are rendered as if they were etched out of wood or metal—a 'bas relief' effect—and the whole has that inner logic that all your works have, a relatedness that's wholly right when inside the work, and wholly challenging, playful & puzzling when outside the work. Always meticulous, always imaginative, and also a lot of fun. Fine work, Mandi.
