Description

"A cursory glance might have given the impression of dullness, perhaps even simplicity; if life has tutored me to anything, however, it is that first impressions can be dangerously wrong, and in this case a second, closer look revealed a sharp intelligence within the hazel eyes, and a subtlety that belied the cultivated coarseness of his features. I was at somewhat of a loss in saying just what this man was; he could have been a philosopher or a mountebank, a killer or a clown." Daz's Michael 2, rendered in Poser 4. Koz's Wave hair, somewhat chopped! Texture and bump maps my own. The tunic was created as part of the post-render in Photoshop.

A fabulous work! Textures and bumps are superb. You've gotten a tremendous amount of personality into this one small portrait. Very impressive! (and what is the lovely story excerpt from?)

Mahliga, the excerpt is my own, from a novel that I'm currently attempting, as are the excerpts that appear in 'Portrait' and 'Vantage Point'. This character and the one in 'Portrait 2' are the two main characters. Thanks everyone for the really nice comments... Coming from such a talented community of artists, they really mean a lot!

Incredible! I sit here staring at the tiniest detail, down to the veins on his nose. Great character development both in writing and illustration!

Apparently, the secret to a perfect render is in the imperfections. The natural vieniness in the nose, the scar, the stubble, all appear normal and disappear into the composion. That is, they don't look like they were added on. What impresses me the most of this render is that it made me think of someone real who it resembles. Your portrait looks like a portrait, not an illustration. The viewer looks at the character as a person before they look at it as an artistic effort.

Nice work!! Love the texture and the postwork is done very sharp and precise (I would never guessed there is any). Hair is fab too. The only thing I would suggest is little bit more sharpness in his eyes. They seem more blurred then his eyebrows or skin texture.... Really good stuff!!! :)

I have to agree with RoboDad... the imperfections make it intriguing and real. The addition of the chipped tooth makes one wonder just how it happened.. defense of a lady, or an assassination gone wrong. Excellent descriptive writing. How is the novel progressing?

This is one of the best photos I have seen in the gallery in over 3 years for quality, texture and lighting.

Really realistic work.....I love all the little touches you've added to make him "human" and take away his Poser plasticity. Excellent!!!
