Description
This is another scene from the school feast and it's for Cheri (elfin14doaks), to wish her well.
Here I experimented dislocation in the time-space, putting together two shots into one. It isn't a duplication, but a holistic, contemporary view of an action and its (very close) future.
Which in some way illustrates some musings buzzing around inside my skull for some time. Actually since some artists here posted questions about purist photography in the forum. It's a pity only few people share the forum (I can't throw the 1st stone for sure). Is a photo manipulated with a computer program stll a photo or something else? What is a photo, BTW? only the unmanipulated, technically perfect reproduction of reality, or an interpretaion of it? There are a number of problems about this issue. The first patron in the late Middle Ages, who asked for a flat Madonna and got one with the first perspective probably was shocked. Art is also innovation, and until some decades ago photography was not considered art, but craft. Another problem is that the word artist is used in a much looser way in the US than in Europe, and craftspeople are usually called artists. In Italy they aren't. In Italy, one who owns a 1000 euros camera, knows all the instruction booklet by heart, attendeded and even taught in photography courses, has published amd makes technically perfect photos, this person is still a craftsperson. One that owns a 100 euros camera, knows the technique well (within the limits of a cheap camera), but adds a quantum of something perceived as 'art' by means of computer manipulation, in Italy is considered an artist. With that I don't want to say that I'm an artist, only a wannabe one! If I manage to find the forum thread on it I'll post my ranting also there. Beware: more to come.
Thanks for your kind comments.

Brilhante obra e esplanação minha amiga, aplausos (5)

WOW!!! Slow action is what we want as far as how her enemy develops, and fast response with deft precision to our combating it! This was incredibly thoughtful and so very much appreciated! I found myself caught up in the is it art or not debate, more so a self thought out ordeal than anything else. I had previously thought art to be something created by an individual, an oil painting, watercolor or pencil drawing, or perhaps something sculpted,....and then I came here. I have watched people develop their skills in rendering, and found that to actually be an art form. It wasn't until Cheri joined here that I came to realize that photography is indeed an art too! Granted the actual photo is a likeness of something that already exists, but how it is seen and presented makes it an entirely different thing! The post work, or even just the description and why the shot was taken, changes everything, and takes something that was, and makes it so very different. The comments made here alone, on this one post, will substantiate this. Something that was, made to been seen through your eyes with your understanding, most definitely an art! Sorry for the rant, and thank you much for the opportunity, and even more for the beautiful dedication! Dave
