This could have been the third page of the Vol. 1 of Silvia’s adventure (page 5 of a comic album ranging from P. 3 to 48), but the project was refused by the comic publishers in March. The scenario-writer, L. Gerard, asked me if I was willing to continue or not. I answered yes. He me that he will modify the contents of the first pages, to have a more energetic beginning. He added that I will have to re-draw entirely all the pages, with better verified drawings, and that now all the album will run on a 4-strip basis, because the 3-strip distribution that you see here looks outdated. We will also try to have much more very long (pano-style) panels. Some characters must also be changed, because at least three of them looked too similar. However, the global technique and the main characters of the story will stay identical. In particular the digital inking in Manga Studio EX, which is shown here, will be kept. So, even if this page will be discarded in the final project, I consider it interesting as an attempt for this comics. Here I will try a translation of this page, in which Silvia, a 11 year-old adopted girl, is invited by her granduncle Antonio Vita, and she is immediately attracted by a mysterious bronze sculpture of a monk riding on a buffalo.
Panel 1
Rodrigo (the adoptive father): You are always here! Are you bored with Mom and me? You have friends, don’t you? And your exercises?
Silvia: Dad! I am 11 years old, I am in the second year in the college, and I have always been the first in class! Could you wish something better?
Panel 2
[No balloons]
Panel 3
[Silvia is now with Antonio]
Panel 4
[Silvia has taken a hollow wooden ball in Antonio’s bookcase]
Silvia: These balls, uncle Tonio, they are marvelous... How are they made?
Antonio: It is not easy… One has to hollow out the biggest ball and carve the little ones inside, through the holes... This is a long and skilful work.
Panel 5
Caption: Suddenly, an object catched my attention. A small dark sculpture.
Silvia: Oh... This looks like a little buddha... But... It comes from my country!
Panel 6
Antonio: Not necessarily… It may also come from Cambodia, from China...
Silvia: Ah... I have never seen it... Where have you bought it?
Panel 7
Antonio: You are more inquisitive than a magpie! I have bought it, simply!
Silvia: Hmm… I want to see it... It seems made of two parts… The little buddha and his big cow...
Panel 8
Antonio: It isn’t a buddha, it is just a monk. And it isn’t a cow, it is a yack.
Panel 9
Silvia: Oh, uncle Tonio, I want see it! I promise you that...
Antonio: Taratata... Little meddlesome! The last time, you have taken my locomotive without my permission, and you have damaged it. So you have to grow first!

All comments and suggestions to improve the drawings are welcome.
To know more about the adventures of Silvia, you can visit the site of the comic project:
"Silvia (the adventures of Silvia Robin)" This site is entirely bi-lingual (french/english), except for the balloons which are only in french. The access to comic pages needs, as said in my current homepage, a secret code. But without code, there are now 66 drawings in 3 galleries to enjoy! My next post will be a color comic page, so don’t miss it!
