Description
15 years ago my scenario-writer L. Gerard wrote the scenario of a comics that should make some 4 to 6 albums. It tolds the story of a planet, Rrhu, which in little decades from a tropical climate became a desert of snow, while the local people had only reached the technical stage that occured in Europe ca. 1400. For sure in these fierce conditions millions of people died or were killed. A small minority survived in very hard conditions in closed cities, where thanks to the geothermal energy a tropical climate was kept. Born ca. 2015 of our Earth, some 600 years after this drama, princess Ellyandh Erkanji tries to save her world, which seems nearly impossible considering the pre-scientific level of knowledge of her people. This fierce, generous, loving and proud alien adolescent is quite different from us by many details, e.g. the women on this planet reproduce themselves through eggs, and thanks to the week gravity they can jump much better than us (hence the fact that Ellyandh’s elbows and knees are situated higher than on Earth). She is quite small too, with 1m40 (4ft 8in), which is quite unlike US comic heroins. Her pet is the fierce cat Zwizz… of course he is alien too! Zwizz is very kind too, but he can kill somebody if her beloved princess is attacked. The first sketches of this comics were drawn by a brilliant young illustrator, but who did not continue. As I had not begun my art studies, I tried to gather these drafts. I redrew some of them more precisely and completed this very promising fantasy universe with a lot of animals and plants. I cannot do the comics now, although I would like to do so, because I am involved in another comic project: Silvia. Some months ago, L. Gerard took again the scifi project and asked me to prepare a leaflet gathering all the elements, to offer a new professional illustrator to draw the comics. As I was unhappy to communicate some of my first drawings, because they were full of errors, I decided to redraw them entirely. I drew this portrait 2 months ago, following exactly the first anatomical definition of Ellyandh. It is a pencil drawing with Photoshop color mixed with pencil textures using Photoshop’s Blending Modes. Therefore, if you are willing to undertake the drawing of a professional scifi comic album with a fascinating story, let me know (for now, the scenario is in French). A non-disclosure agreement is requested to work on this comics.

I like this a lot! The story sounds very entertaining. I hope someone with the needed talent and time steps up to the plate. I'm new to your work and plan to spend more time here. I like the clean economy of your drawing. I also chuckled at her glasses. If we travel to far distant worlds someday, there will be an alien with glasses looped over the collar of his outfit. It's just such a convenient place to put them.

To Myrrhluz: Great observation! True, often Ellyandh is wearing glasses, even if here she has the equiv. of 15-16 years only. Imagine that she is nearly all the time living in dull places. Because these places are entirely closed, and that the free oxygen in this planet is only maintained by so few plants lost in the snow, and there are few things to burn, the light inside the palace and associated caves comes only from fluorescent plants. The young princess is very proud and I won't say she is a pleasant girl, but she is immensely generous and cannot accept the situation of her people. She is reading all the books she can in the kingdom's library to try to find a solution to allow her planet to return to the paradisiac climate that it had six centuries (of Earth) before her birth. So she has somewhat damaged her eyes. This again makes Ellyandh quite different from US comic heroins. Because of the peculiar light bathing the scene, the image has also some yellowish color.

What an awesome peace of art this is. I like the texture like pencil drawing and i like the colors and the composition with her a bit tilting in motion. Looks fantastic. I wouldnt mind seeing more, even though I cant read the text.

The way the princess carries her glasses is exactly how I carry my reading glasses ... heh heh, well, I wear different clothing in my case ... anyway, I found that slightly amusing. Very nice characters; they're rendered perfectly for this environment. Well done Edouard.
