Description

I got it! I got the Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro Lens! My birthday present from Me to Me (my birthday is Sunday the 6th. I'm gonna be 4.... uhm, ya, something. LOL) So I have been playing with the lens and I can't find much to photograph... lol.. it's too breezy and hot.. and the bugs are hiding! So hey, this fly held still long enough for me to try to get a focus on him. I'm excited. I got a little skipper and a grasshopper too... I'll share those soon as well. My previous upload, "Catching a Rainbow". Check it out if you haven't already :) Thanks for looking/commenting. Have a super day! Hugs, ~Melinda~ P.S. Yes, it is still HOT, and now humid, and it still smells of smoke :P

My, what big red eyes you have, grandma... Stellar colors and refractive textures in this shot of the ordinary, garden variety fly, Melinda, little realizing that its image would be soon transmitted throughout the world. Happy you finally got your cherished lens; I'm sure you'll perform miracles with it. The air around my place is still okay. I'm several miles south and west of the conflagrations, which I believe they're finally getting under control. But just as soon as the temperature feels like it's cooling off, it heats up again. Nature gone beserk!

Oooh, this rocks. I like photographing flies, especially when they cooperate, which they don't often do. Flies are never just flies, though...well...at least that's what they say. The ancient Egyptians agreed and associated warriors with flies. I guess because they are hard to catch and kill. Great color and texture. I love this and belatedly, happy birthday.
