Hello! My name is Jodie. I live in Minnesota where the temps can fluxuate by 20 degrees in one day. Most of my photos have been taken very close to my home, a 10 acre hobby farm., where I raise Alpacas and chickens. I am a band director, a musician/singer and a photographer/adviser on the yearbook committee. My camera of choice is a Nikon. I have a D90 and a D70. I also have a SB800 flash and favorite lens is Nikon 18-200mm AF-S, with VR. Revisiting the visual arts is something I should have done years ago. If I see something remarkable, I just try to capture it. Nobody else will ever see it quite that way again so I hope you try that, too. This is just like expensive therapy for us. Thank you for visiting and may you have a peaceful day!

Do you hear that whistle down the line? I figure that it's engine number forty-nine, She's the only one that'll sound that way. On the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe See the ol' smoke risin' round the bend, I reckon that she knows she's gonna meet a friend, Folks around these parts get the time o' day From the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe... Except this was in South Dakota. Stellar POV, colors, clarity and dynamics in this shot of the little engine that could, plus the passenger cars, Jodie!

I have a friend who'd know every detail of this train, he'd know the date the steam engine was made, the manufacturer & its history, the design of the cars, etc. But he's also a photographer, and he'd appreciate the great beauty of your light, your composition, and the texture & overall 'bloom' of the shot. Without the sharpening that so often accompanies digital images, this has the natural balance of soft & sharp that is one of your trademarks. It's beautiful. You caught a moment where the greens modulate from dark to mid to bright, and the smoke is like one of the trees shooting up into the sky. And the slope & rocks on the right are so nicely placed with the turned car closest to us. I could go on, these are the intuitive choices a fine photographer makes, and it's all natural & beautiful & sensual. A beautiful shot in texture, in light & subtle hue & in the flow of its many elements across its range. I just love it.

This must have been the highlight if you love engines and smoke. I am unfamiliar with the American engines as we imported from Britain and they differ vastly from these. Well documented trip Jodie.
