Description

They were a fine pair, this wretch of a boy and the sea dragon that was his companion. The boy, orphaned with no other remaining family,an outcast from his kind...and the dragon, the last known surviving member of his race, hunted to the edge of extinction by the same barbaric hordes that over-ran the boy's village.Together they were a team. The boy would keep watch on the ways of man, keeping his friend out of sight of the tribes who would slay him without thought, skewering his head on an iron stake as a grisly trophy in their village centre. The dragon would provide the bounty of sea and land to sustain them, and the warmth of a fire whenever it was needed, and would guard his friend with his life if required!Yes,they were a fine pair...but one always needs a friend in this world! Bryce 6.1/DazStudio/Photoshop Sea Dragon,Hiro 3 base,Rannel Surrion clothing and Juni Hair from Daz3D and posed in DazStudio. Two terrains in wet rock preset, the main one a custom creation to set the stage,so to speak.Water is a preset. One Radial light and a sphere in a customized nebula volumetric create the fire and firelight, and another custom terrain for the firewood and embers.Sky is False Dawn with the light colour changed to create moonlight.Rendered in Superfine.Post in photoshop involves smoke for the fire and dragon's breath, additional embers, signature and a levels adjustment(using a suggestion from Rutra...thanks my friend!).Thanks for viewing and any comments you wish to leave!

Nice story to go with the picture. I like the dragon's pose and the firelight plus that faint moon glow really makes the scene.

Wow Neil, wonderful light and color contrasts! Really fine work altogether. Love the composition, you're a master at that. The light in the bottom left contrasts beautifully with the darkness in the upper right, forming a diagonal of light/shadow. The other diagonal is made by the dragon, like if he's the one separating the two areas, keeping the light for the character and protecting her from the dark. Really good composition, which perfectly matches your story.
