This is the interior of Selexyz, a bookshop in Maastricht, by The Guardian declared to be the most beautiful bookshop in the world. It is integrated in the old Dominican church. Beautiful capture! While I don't think it adds to the aesthetic appeal of the architecture, I did look it up and there were some definite positives. It was attached in a way to allow removal without damaging the building, a lot of renovation was done including ceiling frescoes, the upper floor gives visitors great views of said frescoes, and there is a small medieval market, and demonstrations of medieval fighting and music. So, while it's a shame beautiful architecture of the past can't be maintained just for beauty's sake, this seems to have been done with a lot of thought and planning. Thanks for this posting. As you can see by my long comment, I found it very interesting. Great pictures on your website too!
