Description

Nope! This is a real railyard in Chicago just south of the Sear's Tower. This is really worth a ZOOM. Thought this looked pretty neat from my perch on the 99th floor. The river is the south branch of the Chicago River. Years ago the rail yards here were much, much bigger. Air freight, the Interstate highway system and trucks have really changed the way things move about the USA since the 1950s. Bill:)

Just think of all the switches that have to get thrown every day in order to keep everything in order. This is a great shot, and it makes my mind go!

I love all the bridges on the river which have to be raised. I count seven in a very small stretch. Great work, sharp and clear. Cheers, Clive

There you go making me dizzy again :)...this would suit the tilt shift method, the lenses are silly money, but there are plugins and tutes on the net One particular plugin Bill is

Alien Skin Bokeh

I grabbed a 30 day trial of this and it is brilliant!

I knew it was a Chicago shot from the thumbnail! Great capture. There are still railyards all over Chicago, but you are right about not as many or as big.

Terrific POV, DOF and clarity on display in this one! Kind of reminds me of an electronic circuit board. Superb shot, Bill, although it doesn't do much for my acrophobia.

Excellent shot! Glad you weren't on the highway. It looks pretty congested. Were the glass balconies open when you were there? I'd risk a sinking stomach to see that. Very interesting capture, definitely worth a zoom!

This looks a great layout for a model train. lol. A super capture from this great height and the zoom certainly shows up the details.

Nothing model about it. Has to be a nightmare, to move freight there. The toy trains wouldn't have to move much, at least, to simulate the real situation. Double stacks and containers are also part of what's changed.
