A pink and orange dahlia in the process of unfolding at MooseRidge Gardens on Whidbey Island.
Memory is a funny thing ...
I've always loved this color combination. I remember drawing a car (for whatever reason) when I was in 6th grade, and decorating it with deep pink and orange. It seemed so bold! I didn't know about dahlias then ... :) Seeing this, I feel vindicated for my outrageous color choices all those years ago!

the pinks are beautiful Tara, and so is the light that brings them out and allows them to recede in shadow; in fact the light is so beautiful on the broader open petals that it looks like its coming from inside the petals. Another 'long' shot, and again, a lush one; and another shot where you place your star image to one side, letting the background spill off to the right as far as it wishes. The contrast between flower & background is beautiful. This is a beautiful shot; and you can know for sure that I'm seeing it full view, where it shimmers.
