Description
Had to follow up on my previous image while I had the chance. Unlike that previous multi-layer image, this one is a straight Bryce render, with just a little bit of clone brush touch-up (intersecting volumes didn't work well on the fighter's exhaust) and a layer for the signature.
This image uses a Titan environment I've been working on -- dark and orangey. I used a lattice to get the harbor at the lower center, and multiple lattices to make the cluster rocket trails. There's a cloud slab right about camera level. It added realism, but also about eight hours to the nine hour render. Next time I'll use a big cube instead -- no need to calculate out to infinity in this soup. All the lights (on the exhausts and rockets) are ranged -- that's the trick to keeping the render from taking days or weeks to complete.

Came out of the soup at 3500 meters; LZ right before us. That's when the cluster rocket fire let off. Four positions, all scattered, so I'm guessing the Roiders went to ground and dismounted.
Can't fire lasers in the soup, so we flipped the cannons to point defense. But there's only a two second flight time for the rockets, and we took two hits. Nothing vital, but I had to shut off Four-Bravo Auxiliary Fuel System to stop an explosion.
Cut the thrusters to drop faster, but terminal vee is only about 60 mps in the soup. That's about a minute of fall before we hit the water -- methane, ethane, whatever. Too long to stay a target. So, yeah, I know it's against the Regs, but I flipped the landing thrusters up and used them to push us down.
Got to 200 mps at 1200 meters, then reversed the deal and braked hard. Got us down in under thirty seconds, about a half klick short of the target and in about five meters of wa -- liquid. Since we took another hit before we splashed, I figured it was worth it. Let the fighters take out the shooters. My job was to get a company of Marines on the ground. They were all alive when they went out the hatches.

Cool POV and sci-fi scene.

This is--er--Soup-er! heh! Sorry couldn't resist the pun. Fabulous work and Titan isn't easy to do realistically, I've found. Think you been about the best at recreting it. POV is excellent; as is the story.

The lighting on the ships, while subtle,is very effective at bringing them to life. The volumetric cloud plane adds to the great atmo, and the POV is great too!In a nutshell,a great image!

I like your Titan atmosphere. My last render started out life as a Titan render. Somewhere along the way it turned green. I like the was yours look. Nice work.

This is great and I like the impression of height you have given the picture with a downward facing image.

I sieged quite a number of hostile installations as a grunt in "Bf 2142" - so this one is a really enjoyable scene for a cyberwar veteran: atmospheric and with a dynamic short storyline !
