Description
Haven't posted anything in five weeks, though ironically this one has been sitting almost done for a month. Work again. Plus a cold. Good to be employed in these times, so I guess I should just deal with it and stop whining.
Anyway, this is the third of the trilogy of Titan renders and a rehash of a brighter looking image I posted a year and a half past.
Ron's Smoke for the smoke -- played with it in Photoshop, then put it on a 2D plane for the render. Needed to do a bit of postwork to smooth out some edges and clone some more Marines in the water -- three Major Cache Plus figures, plus all the models is about all I can trust Bryce 6 to handle (do you think they'll ever fix the memory issues or make it work with DAZ 3?)
Anyway, here it is. Thanks for viewing, commenting and favoriting.

Yeah, Major Yu got us down. Odysseus was bleeding air and fuel when she hit the surf. Idiot Parker bit the tip of his tongue off when we struck ground, but otherwise the platoon was alright.
'Roiders had been shooting at us from somewhere inland. Looked like Marauder missile fire to me, but they could have been dismounted and in the rocks by then. We splashed into a little bay half a klick from the objective. Air mixed with methane and gunk and made for a messy fire back in the engine room. No risk of explosion, they said, but I was glad we were with the first squad out.
Popped a side hatch and went in. Liquid was nearly up to my visor. Kicking off the surface, bouncing up and down, was like low gee through molasses, but we got on shore. The old lady was smart or lucky enough to get us down under cover. I saw a Hawk flying CAP take a missile and take a dive. Pilot got out before the fighter plowed into a ridge. This was not going to be the cakewalk they promised. Hell they promised us a liberator's parade. Never listen to the brass.
I had to tell the fish to keep their weapons out of the water -- methane, goop, whatever. But we hit dry ground and hauled ass onto that alien beachhead. That's when the snipers started firing.

Great image...excellent terrain textures and modelling...as usual, accompanied by a great bit of storytelling!

I gotta say, your stories always leave me wanting more! Excellent picture, and your write up is like a mix of 2001: A Space Odyssey and Blackhawk Down!

Really well done! Nice atmo. :)

the figures next to the landing craft help the viewer grasp the scale of the design. the glowing cockpit windows are a nice touch

Superb atmo and detail!

I think I like the more sullen atmosphere in this one - nice work. A very easy-going atmosphere, yet full of depth.

Always nice to get a warm receipt on an alien beachhead. A very atmospheric image and cool story to go with it.

That is one NICE piece of writing! And WOW, the image that goes with it is quite astounding. I saw the previous one, as I cannot resist following links, and I have to say that both are good (I'll comment on the earlier one when I have time) but this one has a more...atmospheric look to it. It's funny though, the previous image reminds me of something from the Terran Trade Authority Handbooks I loved as a kid, and that image, and this one brought those wonders back to me, though your writing is better and more coherent.
