Description

I made this for the August Bryce Challenge. The challenge theme was "Aviation." Unfortunately, I've been out of town the last few days so I couldn't post this sooner. I wasn't sure I wanted to enter the challenge as I wasn't feeling very inspired. The Speed Racer movie gave me the idea for this scene. Yes, I know this looks nothing like Speed Racer. I was watching the film, and that's when the idea hit me. I had wanted to do a race scene for some time now. It just shows you that you never know where you'll get inspiration: the look and feel I was trying to achieve for the planes was that of formula race cars. But overall, I'm happy with how they came out. I put this together in about six hours. I live in San Francisco near Ocean Beach. Sutro Heights, to be exact. The sky in the render was how it looked out my window that day. I think I got it very close. I got the render done and posted it a few minutes before midnight. It was just in time to meet the deadline. So this was a race for me as well. The scene and models were done 100 percent in Bryce. All the graphics were made in PS2. Enjoy
