the man and his dog against that tactile water is photo enough, but the texture & clarity of the crashing wave is stunning. Everything here is in balance tonally, even though a wave like that could easily take over the shot. It's like a water-forest that he's walking towards. And I think, if you did this in full color, perhaps the range of hues would take away from the tonal play & stunning detail you've achieved with this largely simple gray toned piece. The overall gray is mute and somewhat dull; but the lights & textures within it make it glow as few photographs would; I suppose it's an example of using a not-too-intrusive underlying hue if you're going to use highly expressive lights & contrasts. Another fine piece from you; and one of the reasons I'm so absolute in my praise of your work is that its fineness & consummation never flags—it is rare, it is beautiful, and it has a presence that imprints itself on the viewer everytime. It's both deeply intelligent and very intuitive. A beautiful Nikolay vision...

Everything about this is amazing. The clarity, the crispness, the contrast between light and shadow, it's all superb. Spot on. Perfect. What I really like about this is the level of emotional sensitivity this shows; it's something only a real artist can bring out and you do so masterfully. This is, most definitely, a favorite for numerous reasons.
