Description
A historical fact skipped by the movie 300 is that there were actually 301 Spartans that left to defend Thermopylae. The 301st Spartan, Carl, was beaten to death by his comrades for suggesting that with bare chest, leather loincloths, and red capes, they looked more like a gay pride parade than a war party. Historians doubt that Carl's presence would've made much of a difference to the actual outcome, however taking up his last dying suggestion that everyone wear the more traditional breast-plates and tunics might have had a profound effect on the battle.
This started out as just a fun little exercise with the Carrara replicator until I realized that it was a 16 hour render. There were originally intended to be three different M4 Freaks on the march instead of two, but the file got corrupted and the third (fourth in the picture) wouldn't conform properly. I could've cut back on the render time by compositing, but I just wanted to see what C7 could do. There is no postwork.
The sunset is from Carrara Skies Volume 1.

Yea, trust hollywood to twist the historical facts to make any historical event more Ma and Pa oreinted. I am glad to see someone have the courage to come forth with the real story of what happened LOL.

There's a lesson here....there's always one freak who refuses to conform. Yeah, the spartans had this odd obsession with fighting naked. Personally, I'd find the dendric panoply more fashionable...blood and entrails (especially ones own) are considered a bit of a faux-pas in social circles. For example: Julius Ceaser.."Et Tu Brute? Brutus... "Sir you simply are not dressed for the assembly" (stabbity-stabbity) Ceaser... "Drat"
