Ha-ha-!!Mandi!! look what happened here!)))))) Your image is superb! Looks to me very organic and so the selection will be effective...and you know what? I feel we are "all" there..just a feeling..not more!I love the black and white.Fav.

(lol, looks like Mike reeeeeeallllllly liked your piece!) (I've had comments show up twice, but never this many times!) Before I start, I never said how much I loved your avatar! It's great to see your smiling gentle face gracing your burgeoning gallery (and ours too). On the piece, the first thing I thought when I saw this was "Jackson Pollock on steroids!" It does have that paint-strewn-from-a-balcony look, or the look he got by running over his canvases on foot and swirling the paint in every which direction. It has the equanimity too and his inimitable luminous palette—luminous even though he used a lot of blacks, whites & grays. But it's all you because you have an organic hills-&-valley texture, layers weaving in & out of layers, shell-forms & prehistoric fossil forms & microorganism-vermicelli forms (yeah, my vocabulary sucks) & myriad tiny lights which are everywhere & make it seem like a vast illuminated primal life landscape (the primal ooze). And you have some beautiful warm grays on the right (also reminiscent of Pollock) and bluish tones on the left. This baby's packed. As Ana says, we are all there. As for your title, it adds a whole new dimension, as if to say 'selectio'n comes from a huge organic ocean, and what gets selected is anyone's guess while the selection is taking place. True to Darwin I think: This would be a "before" shot. A big teeming oil painting of a work, and I love it.

Thanks for the hallucinations. Awesome texture. I'm working on a couple of paintings and was thinking of this sort of thing for the backgrounds. I'll post WIPs soon. Did you know that this looks like bones in a grassy area filled with leaves?
