Description

Depressed You say "I'm fine Just busy" But when pushed The truth comes out Not fine Not at all Depressed Distant Disconnected Normally a chatterbox These days you are Taciturn Withdrawn Uncommunicative When I asked "Do you want me to Leave you alone?" You said, "No! Don't go!" And so I kick your ass Distract you Ask you questions And every day I tell you I love you I can't hang in Forever At this level But I won't just Go away If I don't Take care of myself First I'll have Nothing left to give Getting nothing in return I must cut back But I will still Be here for you Never doubt it You know how much I would like to Make it all better But I have no Magic wand All I can do Is stand here And be your friend And that's exactly Where you'll find me .......... When the night has come And the land is dark And the moon is the only light we'll see No I won't be afraid, no I won't be afraid Just as long as you stand, stand by me ....Ben E. King An ear, a shoulder and a sincere hug. That's what friends are for. A sad and beautiful poem. Your friend is blessed to have you.

Tara - you are a friend in a million. These words touch deep as I have been there myself... in a huge way and in a deep hole! I had to walk this walk - pulled myself up by the collar and forced myself to seek help... Luckily there are loads of help around... it is a choice... Love you girlfriend! :)

I had a very close friend how had depression, we went through bouts of this . It hurt watching her go through this all the time. I know how you feel. Great poem, you hit the emotion dead on.

Stellar, well thought out prose and accompanying image! Not to emphasize the situation, but if you had all of the chronic physical ailments I have, you would be more than just depressed. And, I'm far from being a chatterbox, even on the best of days, so that really doesn't matter. Prozac, anyone?

Such strong and loving words. Something I have to remind myself of each time I talk to a friend who is in a very dark place. Thank you for this.

Love your writing. It is so easy to read, easy to remember, easy to feel the emotions. Another winner. And you are about to "take care of yourself", at least for a few days. Come back renewed!

it hits with a wallop, I know the experience & know how good a friend you are, how you inspire people to do things they haven't done but were simply meant to do, how you stand by them, reach out to them, hold them, etc etc. To be pushed away is hard, yet to not be given an answer is harder. Your poem hits very deep, and it's beautifully written with your usual succinctness and economy of expression. The end is just beautiful—hard truth, real truth. Very powerful, and very true. Hope it doesn't go on forever...
