Description

Kudu Kudus are a large handsome antelope with long twisting spiraled horns displayed by the males. Hey why in the animal kingdom do they males get all the frills??? Of coarse they are horns in this case...I'll leave that one open. They predominantly eat leaves and shoots, but will eat grass under exceptional circumstances. They have have a specially adapted stomach divided into 4 sections. Hey so do cows. The main mating period is mid winter with most births occurring during the summer months when a single calf is born after a gestation period of approx. 210 days. That's only about 7 months. Wow are they lucky. They live in small family groups generally not more than 12 consisting of females and calves. Males join the groups only for mating purposes. See I knew..... I won't go there. Kudu are most active in the mornings and late afternoons. They run with their heads level to the ground with the horns laid back to avoid being entangled in branches. Kudus have awesome hearing and are able to turn their large rounded ears in almost any direction. They will sound a harsh bark as a warning cry at the threat of predators such as leopards, cheetahs or lions or maybe Dave. Thought I would take my mind off things for a while. i am not free and clear yet. Hopefully soon. Thank you for all the prayers, lit candles, positive vibes, and love you are sending my way. I am so blessed to have you all in my life. Have a great night, Love and peace, Cheri

My goodness this is one horny beast!! I remember seeing him too, but I don't recall hearing him bark, safely removing me from the predator list, and just rendering me a harmless sick and twisted individual. I think I'll have Cheri upload and do her posts from my computer, if I can get it back up and running,....sigh! Could be worse I guess, I had my computer built with Cheri's photography in mind, and my someday something, and put the best of everything available at the time into it. This one, was put together pretty much just for e-mails and maybe a bit of web surfing for Cheri's sister. It worked so much faster than the windows 95 system she was used to using that it scared her, so we bought it from her. Had I known we were going to end up with it, I would've made this a lot better than it is. Take care all, hope you have a great day/night!

Talk about horny! Oops, sorry, shouldn't have said that in this context. Stellar composition in effect in this capture of the calm and sedate kudus, just grazing away, Cheri!

Great shot and interesting information. I just lit a candle and wafted sweet scent and positive vibes your way. (Actually I looked around awhile and found the matches, lit the wrong candle, blew it out, struck a new match, turned away from the fan, struck another match, lit the right (ie really smelly, but nice) candle and wafted sweet scent and positive vibes your way.) Take care.

Such wonderful creatures. And great information. I always love learning new things and though I knew that these critters made warning sounds, I've never heard them. There are a lot of things I haven't heard yet, however, so that's not so surprising. Hopefully things are going well...
