Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Superb shot !

Superb POV, DOF, perspective and clarity, Bill! Love the B&W mode. Definitely reminds me of the Great Depression of the 1930s, when down-on-their-luck transients would jump on boxcars to go west.

Wait! No, Bill! It'll get better! It will. It WILL! Excellent gritty B&W. We have a huge collection of RR calendars. Nothing like this in all those pages. You have an amazing eye for the zones.

This is fantastic Bill. The monochrome works perfectly and actually reminds me of the Stephen King novel "The Body" AKA "Stand By Me".

I'm only doing a piece in each gallery right now, but I'll be back for a longer session soon...I chose this for its beautiful use of b&w—a not-totally lost art, thank god, and one which you do beautifully—for the wonderful but muted light, for the softening in the background trees to where they look a little like an old print, for the perspective/pov—I suppose tracks pretty much 'give' photographers the pov, but really capturing the perspective so it feels 'new' is an art, and this felt new the minute I saw it. And for the slight print texture of the stones & sky, as if we're looking at a photograph printed on a very old paper. Beautiful work; and a wonderful surprise to remember that this is here & now (!). And yes, I know how tracks, without trains, can be some of the most peaceful places on earth...ao much so that when the train approaches, we're shaken out of a deep, deep dream. Beautiful work bill. I'll be back soon for more...
