Description
Since Mark (wysiwig) has been forced to take a period of compulsory rest, he can even start a new activity: going on vacation. And what better place than Rome? Since the barbarians stopped invading it to burn and loot it, and came as tourists,eager to spend thier money, this has been a favorite place for honeymoons, Grand Tours, and Europe-in-7-days Tours. This year most were from Asia and Spanish-speaking countries, but the die-hards from Germany, France, and English-speaking countries resisted. This couple was too busy in experimenting a Roman kiss to speak, so I can't say what language they were speaking other than that of love. I borrowed the title from a very famous film: Roman Holiday.
Roman Holiday is a 1953 romantic comedy. The film introduced Audrey Hepburn, who won the Academy Award for Best Actress. Gregory Peck and Eddie Albert co-starred. The movie was directed and produced by William Wyler. It was written by John Dighton and author Dalton Trumbo. As Trumbo was on the Hollywood blacklist, he was not credited. Trumbo's name was finally digitally added to the film's credits when it was released on DVD in 2003.

My sister and I were in Rome together almost 30 years ago. I took pictures of cats at the Coliseum, and we rescued two kittens. Well I haven't changed all that much in some ways. We had a lot of fun in Rome! Great city! Beautiful capture and with all that history, Mark would have a blast.

For me? Now I'm all blushing and stuff. I would love to go back, perhaps next spring when my finances have stabilized. I visited Rome in 1982 and loved it. Paris was beautiful, the people were miserable and I got sick on the food. Rome is perhaps not as pretty but the people were wonderful and the saltimbocca...ooh my! I got better in Rome. The essence of Rome was revealed to me one day as I walked away from the Vatican along the Via Condittori. I looked back at St. Peter's and thought what a wonderful picture if I could only take it from the middle of the road. I ran into the street and focused my camera. I ran back to the sidewalk. I ran back into the street and took the picture all the while trying to avoid the speeding cars. As I ran back to the sidewalk with my picture, I looked across to the opposite sidewalk. An elderly man dressed in a suit and fedora had stopped to watch me. As our eyes met he bowed slightly at the waist and applauded me. That is my favorite memory of Rome. Your picture and text reminded me of that. Thank you.
