Hi, I'm Marilyn. Ă‚Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Ă‚Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Ă‚Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Ă‚Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Ă‚Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Ă‚Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Ă‚Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Ă‚Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I'll bet you all are happy about this part of the country being flat now:) Don't forget to get at least a couple of beach shots or lake shoreline for us. After all, Lake Michigan may not be the Pacific but it is still mighty big for a lake.

Lots of great dynamics and lighting effects in this night shot, Marilyn! When you're alone And life is making you lonely, You can always go downtown When you've got worries, All the noise and the hurry Seems to help, I know, downtown Just listen to the music of the traffic in the city Linger on the sidewalk where the neon signs are pretty How can you lose? The lights are much brighter there You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares and go Downtown, things'll be great when you're Downtown, no finer place for sure, Downtown, everything's waiting for you Downtown...

I have never seen so many people out and about like what we seen in Chicago. That was so amazing. Great capture this is totally cool.

I think this was when you & I walked ahead & we lost everyone else. I just remember when Tara & Chip showed up, there was no Corey, and my first thought was, "did he beam up? is it our fault?" (He had to get that train or he'd be stuck for a whole night...I was really grateful that he & chip traveled so far, as I was that Cheri & Dave & Juanita drove so far...) Another beautiful study in light, Marilyn, because of those big sodium vapor lights (the big yellow ones—ugly in life, but beautifully captured here), because of the iridescent glow of the building doorways & windows, because of those gorgeous blue lights right above the walkers (you caught a fine composition there), and because you allowed the light-flares to dominate, making it a dream as much as a reality. And it's bathed in lots of darkness and that manufactured glow that city streets get at night. This is beautiful. And btw, it was the Eve of Rosh Hashanah, and there I was walking with very special & creative souls. That big arch is Nieman-Marcus, btw; and we're walking on Michigan Avenue...
