Description

Here's a little something to let you know I got home safely. This is a shot from the plane of the Cascade Mountains. The big mountain in the foreground is Mount Rainier. To Rainier's right is St. Helens. The peak on the far left is Adams, and the one in the back is Mount Hood, which is down past Portland. Maybe after a couple days at home I'll be up to commenting again! LOL! I'm VERY tired after my trip to Chicago, but it was a fantastic experience, and I'm glad I went.

Wow, maybe next time we're just going to meet out there! I'm glad everyone got back safely. I almost said the safe and sound thing and then realized, that I'm not really sure just what that means. I know that most wills start out, "being of sound mind and body" I'd probably not pass the being of sound mind part, because that would be connotative of some form of sanity, and for me that's right out!.....sorry, got a bit off track there. So as if two short nights in a row weren't yet quite enough for me, I went and beat myself up for over two hours practicing for the upcoming Dragon Boat races this weekend, so I guess right now, I'm not really of sound body either. You'd think my butt wouldn't hurt so much, after Captain Ahab had us paddle them off for over two stinking hours! Oops, I guess I should just stop right here, It was more than just a pleasure having had the opportunity to meet you all. Fare thee well M'lady!

(another not-funny bit: Instead of saying "it was a fantastic experience & I'm glad I went," you could say "it was one of the worst trips of my life & never again...") (It's worth a few laughs, right? right?) Ok, it's a beautiful clear shot, I love the b&w, and it really does show what you were explaining (on a bus) about how Rainier stands almost alone, since the peaks immediately surrounding are mostly lower. It's an amazing range for that reason, such clarity in the peaks & quite beautiful. And the pic really shows the sweep too...I'm going to look at a map (a real one, btw, not one of your 'palm' maps lol) (man, that had to be a first: I've never seen anyone use their palms as a map before), I want to see the area you're in close-up. Must be beautiful to fly in over all that. As you saw when you flew in over Chicago, you see flatness, water & sprawl. Big difference...Some days we wake up here & dream there are mountains outside, for real. You really have them. It's as beautiful as everyone says...
