Description

Amanda - in a solitary heart. Inspiration from a beautiful bestselling love song. This is the song: Click here to hear the song Or here in case of youtube rubbish The song "Amanda" is written by Boston and Tom Scholz. I always liked the song a lot. And i'm in Boston-mode at the moment. #:o) I tried to find song facts, that could provide me with understanding of the lyric. I could not find that. So i had to listen to the lyric... and try to reason... I had some trouble understanding the logic, in the lyric. The guy in the song, is in love, with the girl in the song. But he is afraid to loose her, if he tell her, that he is in love with her. How on earth is that be possible?.... to loose someone, you don't have, by telling them you love them.? That is not possible.... unless...Unless it is a friend.... Because if you fall in love with a good friend... you will most likely loose a good friend, if love ain't mutual. So in my image..he sit on a bench with his friend Amanda, talking and watching the sunset. Both of them are very common people, and also a little bit shy. I have tried to depict the moment, where he made up his mind, and decide to tell Amanda, that he loves her. It took him a long time to gather courage to say it....and he knows, that he might loose her as a friend... When he tell her, that he is in love with her. But he has to do it. There are no public interpretation of "Amanda". But i think personally, that the song "Amanda"... is about how it is, to fall in love with a friend... and how complicated it really is. It is a beautiful and original love song. "Amanda" is from Boston's third album called "Third stage". It is a collection of 10 love songs. They are all connected, and should be heard chronologically. And together, the 10 songs tells a story, about the journey into life's third stage. "Amanda" is the first song on the album. This post is also a memorial for Boston's lead singer, Brad Delp. I always loved his voice. It is his amazing and golden voice, you hear on all existing Boston songs. I was shocked and saddened to learn recently, that he killed himself a few years ago. I did not know this. Only 55 years old. He was set to marry his girlfriend through 7 years. And was also set to go on tour with Boston in 2008. Good things was about to happen in his life.. so it does not make sense. He left a note for the public saying "I have a solitary heart". I think i know what he meant by that. It is possible to be lonesome in the crowd. The people who knew him well, say that he was the most unselfish man on earth, and he gave to everyone, all of his life. Maybe you get worn after a while, by doing that. I think his passing is a great loss for rock music. Boston will never be the same without his voice. But thank God, Brad Delp is immortalized in all Boston's songs. Because his voice is 50% of the songs. So listen to the beautiful ballad "Amanda", and enjoy his fantastic and unique voice.

Wonderful image and great dissection of the song! it is indeed possible to lose someone if you tell them you love them. It scares them away!

your depiction of the song is a wonderful one. the sunset, the closeness of two people and the setting they are in are all beautifully done. I think it is possible to lose someone when you tell them you love them if one of them is not ready to handle all that those 3 words can mean. especially for young people who have a lot of growing up to do (and selfishness to go through) first. as a side note: my daughter's name is amanda; that song was big around here. :)

Falling in love with a friend ins never easy - I fell into that pattern a few times in my life. Lucky for me the last time it happened we got married. ;P The reserve in the guys face really speaks for the whole picture, I think. Well done.

Wow Lars you did such a wonderful job with this image that really expresses the feelings he has in his heart. You can see by his expression the pain he is in when confronted with this decision. Great job of telling us your thoughts on the lyrics and giving us something to think about.

You've worked you magic again, painting with light. A beautiful song, and such a marvelous interpretation of it. There is a quietness in the man's face, and inward sort of feeling, a solitary heart. Yet he's taking a risk by trying attempting to let someone else in .. and I don't know if that's possible with a solitary heart. But if the image follows the song, which I think this does, then the risk is in ruining or/and complicating a friendship. But once he falls in love with a friend, the friendship is already compromised .. and there is no going back to how it was, one can only go forward. And perhaps the quietness in his face is that knowledge .. the only way one can go is forward.
