Description

It was a bright and sunny day in Chicago, and rumor had it there was a band of ninja photographers preying on innocent unsuspecting subjects in the downtown area. It was rumored they were somewhere by the museum complex. We , my totally uninvolved with the whole ninja photography thing band of photographers, were minding our own business when we stumbled across the moon lying on a play ground. I knew watching it every night I could get sight of it, it could not suspend itself forever in that black sky,and would fall someday. It did! Right in Chicago where we were, now what's the chances of that! Ok all kidding aside. This moon sculpture I thought was very cool. I have always had a thing about the moon, so much that Dave bought me a pendant with the moon phase at the time I was born on it. When I saw this I had to get a shot of it. I hope you enjoy. Update on me, Dave and I are going to take a half day at our work places tomorrow. We are going to see what is up. I applied for Badger-care, they upped the income limit to where I now qualify. The application has been pending for a month, so we are going to go over there and see what's up with it. Cross your fingers. I don't necessarily want my doctor back, but i need someone and they all want insurance. Have a great night. Love and peace, Cheri

Wow, if the real moon ever fell out of orbit, the earth would be in deep, deep yogurt. In any case, stellar lighting and textural effects in this shot of the heavy-looking orb, Cheri!

To quote Robin Williams, "Lo, the moon like a testicle hangs low in the sky",..and now has drooped so low as to land on the earth! There it is for all to see,....it always looked sooo much bigger up in the sky. What were the odds that it would come to rest in Chicago, and on the very day that we just happened to be there. I have no idea what kind of effect this will have on the tides, calenders with moon phases are right out! This on event can probably go down in history as the most life changing event known to mankind.........?? what's that sweetie?.........Oh. Perhaps I should've read what she had to say first,..in its entirety! Never mind! I missed this too!!! Perhaps at the time I was playing with the floating orb thingy. Nice shot baby, it's amazing the detail the put into this FAKE MOON!

Great shot and story! All fingers crossed! I forgot to say in my comment to Dave, how outraged I was by your previous doctor's use of voicemail for his news. That was unconscionable! I can understand your not wanting to go back to such a coldhearted individual.

I saw a lot of orbs while we were there, but somehow missed this one! I was all worried about the signs on the ground that said "Tashkent" and "Rome" and I KNEW that couldn't be right! LOL! This is a great shot. Nicely done!

I think it's great that nobody remembers seeing this! I don't either! (And I was a little upset at those "Tashkent" markers on the ground too...) While you were capturing this, I was playing with that floating orb thingy too. (Well, what do you call those things? Big iron balls, lol?) It's a terrific shot, very clear, a straight wonderful division into sand, grass & globe (those "3"s again!) and a nice rich shadow to boot. And the detail on the moon is really fine. Also, Dave is right, these do zoom very well. I also remember the bus ride, which took us wayyyyyy into the Loop and then out. You guys may not have noticed, being new here, but from where I was sitting, I kept thinking, "uh, are we going to the museums by way of Colorado???" Wonderful shot Cheri, and another great memory even though I never saw this thing. When I go back, I'm gonna look for this. I'll look forward to your next shots, since you have a ton of them. And one of these days I'll go back to some of the other shots that I've missed in your gallery...All my best to you Cheri, and same to Dave, your 'rock of Gibraltar'! I hope the insurance matter is solved in the coming week! Loved your chicago shots so far!

Hey...that totally got by me! I didn't even see the moon sculpture, but it fits since it was near the Adler Planetarium. WOW! Hey, is it anywhere near your own moon phase? I remember seeing the pendant but I can't remember how near full it was, but this looks close. You caught the detail amazingly, and I love the way the light and colors play around. Mostly I remember the mood of that whole day and all of the giggles that went around the group as we chattered away. This is a great shot!

Congrats on making LWITG with this fine shot of the moon where you wouldn't expect to find it - the base path at Wrigley Field! OK, it was in a Grant Park playground. Bet it was near the Planetarium. BTW: The Chicago Ninja Gang scored well as Chipka made LWITG, too.

I have a theory about the moon. I suspect it gets tired of hanging up there all night and occasionally during the day time it takes little breaks and falls down in random cities to take a nap. Just a theory. Lovely shot!

Oh, if it would just rest near me for once - I'd love to get a shot that detailed! That was a bubblingly effervescent idea! Best of luck about the other matter (sorry I am not aware of what it's about)!
