Description
Captured 9/19/09, around 11 AM, in Artesia, California.
Tunde had remarked on the boring concrete design and status of water towers in Australia, and longed to see the towers from another country.
So, while driving through the low income community of Artesia, I stopped to snap some shots of their high in the sky signpost of sorts. Like who needs Chicago skyscapers when you've got this.
Ergo, this was the main reason I had ventured along the decrepit steets of the city, not necessarily to take photos of items such as yesterday's swayback fence, which was a fortuitous find, but to shoot this marvel of engineering.
Thankx for looking in, and tallyho.

Thank you Harry. I do like it. Simply elegant tower. I can imagine myself up there and taking photos of the land far as I can see. Last shot is a most interesting as you captured a break up name.

Great images! That looks like an awfully long climb on those narrow steps. It must feel perilous to be on that little platform with all that water over your head and all that distance below your feet. I like the last one too. you have the split name and a good view of the steps and platforms. And the steps go all the way to the roof. Needed for maintenance, but yikes, I wouldn't want to be up there.

These towers do make lovely photography subjects and you can play around with them on PS... Wonderful images Harry! :)

Thank goodness the grafitti monsters haven't been able to assault this tower! Super threesome Harry. I am not particularly afraid of heights, but I'd sure be holding on with white knuckles if I had to climb the ladder to the peak:)

Having spent my freshman high school year at Artesia High I know this neighborhood well. One year was all I could take of it (think West Side Story style gang warfare, minus the dancing)...I'm sure it hasn't gotten any better over the years. Nice shots of this very utilitarian tower.

We have a few smaller cities up this way that have these types of water tower still. I think they are most cool. Great capture.
