Description

"My father, being chosen as ambassador to the kingdoms of Dnalsj by his royal honor, Hlausjiere, king of Minzaron, a post to which no man would wish to acquiesce unless so bidden by the king, moved our family from our ancestral estates in Iaubellen to the distant squalor of Sjo-nu. And though I had learned bits and pieces of their strange language and customs I was, as an only son and a boy already consumed by his own fears, very much alone in that strange land. In my solitude I took to exploring the rolling hillsides while my sisters were married off to wealthy Dnalsjin men of distinction and my mother, herself condemned to her own form of seclusion, began to drink away whatever was left of her life. During these wanderings I came across the remains of an old wall and what seemed, to me at least, to be the foundations of a small tower, and here I came often to sit against its ancient stones and ponder what great men built it and for what purpose. I wished to keep it a secret and so never inquired of my father of its origin. Only later, when I returned to Minzaron to study at he University in Merasar did I learn that it was the last remains of the great wall built over a thousand years earlier by Hammucar the Great to keep back the last vesitges of Dnalsjin resistance to his and his forefathers' conquering. And yet for me, in my youth, it had been a special place, my place, and even now, when the long years of my life have slipped away, I remember it fondly, and if I close my eyes I can smell the sweet grass and the tall flowers, and feel those old stones against my back." Just a little story....the image was made with Vue 7. I modeled the wall and tower in Silo and created the rest with xfrog. Hope you like it!

Very good, as usual. Your scenes are really unique. Regarding composition, I think it would look even better if there was a bit more space at the top (I think the margin is too close to the plant). Anyway, very good work!

Excellent! I only noticed the tower at first and then started to see the rest of the remains of the wall. So this piece gives your eyes a nice surprise as they start looking. Beautiful layout as usual. And I agree - love when you give stories to go along with the images. And love the wonderful words. Hlausjiere. Iaubellen. Great!
