Mark this is a wonderful dedi to Cheri and I can't think of a more beautiful manner in which to start my day visiting your gallery and seeing it. I'm not surprised with all that is going on and your health concerns that you still put all of it aside to make this lovely image to your friend. What you've done with the light here gives me the feeling that I'm pulling back from a close-in perspective, when in reality the distance is not changing. Indeed, I am not flying around looking at this from all sides and across time ... the basics of your original image are still right there where you put them. But the changes you've made in light and texture and color give such a sense of the grand scale ... of shifts in space and time ... Dang. Well, and it's very pretty! LOL! Happy Birthday to Cheri! :)

The Autumn leaves have become paint brushes! Each leaf has a color that was hiding behind that green. Now they all celebrate for Cheri. The vibrant hues that blossom from each leaf tip are fabulous! Each seems to reach out but not compete with the others. Each panel is another example of how they all fit in harmony. They're all there doing a marvelous balancing act so that they enhance each other. This work of art reminds me of the oak branch I saw in the Copper smith's Shop at the MN Renaissance Festival. It was glorious and I regret not buying it on the spot. I am going to make this a fave so I can look at this beauty more often!

So gorgeous, Mark! I wish I had more time to comment fully in your gallery but I'll be back here on Sunday. I just had to drop in and wish Cheri a marvelous birthday and what a way to celebrate visiting you and the windy city with her creative friends! These are like a burst of leafy fireworks in a style that is all your own, Mark. I love these. The colors are so brilliant against the dark, the unfolding of the images is delightful. The shapes remind me of deep sea plants with the sun breaking through with light filling up all the spaces promoting growth. The harmony and contrast you've achieved in these images is perfect. I don't know Cheri, but I wish her all the joy in the world, best wishes and lots of sunny energy your way.

I knew you are/were incredibly ill, and knowing you, you really would catch up later without fail, once your personal issues had abated. Seeing the time that this was posted, and knowing that you really aren't up to snuff, but did this anyway??? Your words of eloquence are always so overpowering that I'm driven to my knees in admiration of your ability to deliver such excellent prose. And that effort takes time, besides! With that talent, you could have gotten into politics. Being from Chicago, you might have taken on Barak Obama during his early days. Anyway, I just hope that your family and health problems disappear in the shortest possible time with the most satisfying results. Oh, and thanks for the tip on Cheri's birthday. Oh it is so good for to be able to just pop in here for a little while and see that you have posted dear Mark. What a beautiful birthday gift for your friend Cheri, and such loving words written with such sincerity as is to be expected from you dear Mark. I know you have had so many problems and I often think of you and wonder how you are, even though I am not on here much myself these days either. I can always say that I really do enjoy your art, and as you know I have never really warmed to your style of art before in my life. That all changed when I came to your gallery, and to drink in the vibrant art that you create just speaks volumes to me, and I still haven't figured out why your style is so appealing to me. I am spell bound and almost speechless. But not so much that I could be totally silent, grins. This is like looking at a small bit of the Hollow .. beautiful fronds of ferns, springing up in various hues, changing as the sun travels over them in the course of the day .. each view holding me mesmerized ..
