Description

I'm back! This photo was taken in the Badlands of South Dakota. It was COLD and very windy. I happened to be in a pretty darn good spot when the sun decided to set. I had a wonderful time. I logged many miles on this trip. I got to see a lot of things that I only dreamed I'd see! I saw a Great Lake, Lake Superior. I saw a light house and 3 More states, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota. I visited a cemetery where my grandmother, great-grandparents and many other relatives are buried. I saw the 'town' and farm where my dad spent his youth. I got to see corn and soybeans (and other crops) growing (lol, I know... what can I say... I'm a city girl). I saw Mt. Rushmore in the sun, and Deadwood in the snow. I saw where Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane were buried. I saw cows, buffalo, sheep... small, small country towns and just small towns. I even saw the World's Biggest Ball of Twine.. lol. I got to see the Corn Palace.. who knew there was such a place! ...and Wall, South Dakota..and Sturgis too. I could go on and on. I had the best time and would loved to have stayed longer and seen more! But I did miss home. I am still sorting photos. I am sure I'll find one or two more to share :) Thanks for looking! My previous upload, "The Opening". It's good to be back. Have a great Sunday! Hugs, ~Melinda~

Oh, Melinda... I remember traveling in the north when I was younger and all the fantastic things I saw... The great things found on the drive from one place to another... I can hear in your words the fun and wonder and memories made... I'm so happy for you! I love this shot. It is a trip back in time. Peaceful and quiet. I wonder where the people have gone. Maybe sitting just on the other side of this teepee watching the sun go down...

So that's where you've been all this time!!! I kept wondering, "where is Melinda, where is Melinda?" Anyway, glad you totally enjoyed your trip, especially South Dakota, where I was born. Bet you missed the balmy skies of Southern California while you were gone. Super shot of the Sioux wigwam/tepee amidst the glorious silhouetting and sunset, young lady!
