Fantastic Moe, I like to do as much of my own work as possible but with stuff like this why bother? I just couldn't do it any better. Looking forward to its release. Nice one.

Keyboards? Keyboards, how 20th century:) Mo you must have some pretty small crew members as they would practically have to crawl over each other to gen in and out of those chairs. You need to make the console wider and give some more space around the seats. A dead space between the two stations in the middle would be a good Idea, ergonomically and for efficency. The way you have it would have the crew bumping into each other an a regular basis.

Nice job! I gotta hook you up with someone who wants to develope a walk thru style RPG of sci-fi stuff. He'd be all about the detail you've got into this!

Absolutely outstanding, Moebius! What's the poly count in this scene?

I don't see keyboards going away in a hurry. Voice recognition is no good since most of us press buttons faster than we talk. The tactile sensation of pressing the buttons is an important part of touch typing so those "holographic" keyboards you see in some sci-fi won't work. A standard keyboard makes sense to me. I like the cramped feel, too. It's expensive to build spaceships so there shouldn't be any wasted space. You could put the chairs on rails so they slide back then slide forward at the touch of a button when the occupant is seated. For me, the only thing missing is a decent safety harness. To use a chair like that, you would have to be extremely confident of maintaining perfect control over ship's internal gravity even in the worst possible circumstances.

LOL! sigh I was wondering when I'd get crucified for using a standard keyboard (but how will he join chat without one?) Actually since it's initial introduction in 1873 the keyboard configuration has remained relatively unchanged, I haven't stumbled across any radically new and improved popular designs. Pnevai, I am going for a claustrophobic look and feel, so the ergonomics are fine (based on an early Nostromo sketch), besides they shouldn't be getting up all that often. The 500mm between seats is a minimum sufficient aisle space for what it is (not sure if the NFPA 36"/900mm clearance is an applicable requirement for deep space exploration vessels). Ajax, there actually is room built in to the chair for Obiwan to model a conformable 5-point harness. This scene has less than 25K polygons with 7 lights, BoulYaBase. Thanks for commenting. :o)

I don't know itf it's just me but that dude on the screen in the upper-middle image really, and I mean REALLY, looks like a man that's in a newspaper in the PS2 and pc-game : Grand Theft Auto III. Is that just me... I can't sleep without knowing... :) Please tell me with an instant message or something...

your designing talent are at least as amazing as your modelling skill. I love curvy consoles, and I love modellers who take their subjects to such levels of detail. I wish I had one of those at home too, even if it was just an ordinary Pentium4
