Description
Taken inside Tomoka State Park. My photos of Florida Scenery were inspired by the Florida Highwaymen. They were Black Artists that began paint in oils on Upson Board during the 1950's and 60's. They sold their art from their cars. Original prices were $12 to $35. Their art was rediscovered around 1999. Now those same paintings are commanding prices into the thousands of dollars. One of the most famous of the Highwaymen, Harold Newton, painted scenes he found along the Tomoka River. More info about these artists can be found at: www.floridahighwaymen.com
