Okay, so this is a bit of a red herring! It's the Halloween season, after all, and what would horrify a young person more than to be unable to use her cel phone? In Hillville they are VERY behind the times. No cel phones, no internet... No Problem! I think that one of my favorite forms of humor is when two people are talking and they really do not understand each other. The bottom half of the image is a demonstration of the tradeoff involved with ray traced vs. depth mapped shadows. I usually use ray traced shadows for outdoor scenes because they look more realistic. BUT... they don't play well with certain high-polygon, transmapped things like the Natural Curls hairstyle. I did a test render with the hair turned off and it took two minutes. Turn the hair on, and it took two hours!! Of course, I could have turned the SHADOW off for the hair, since her head's shadow is not visible on the ground, and then just "faked it" in the head in postwork. The lessons we learn after the fact!!
