Description

On June 6, 1942 USS Yorktown CV-5 slipped under the waves at the end of a three day period of catastrophic events including a tremendous explosion as the nearby destroyer USS Hamman was hit by a submarine launched torpedo. The ready set depth charges went off and the explosion finished off the 809 foot carrier that had two days earlier been hit by bombs. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. Wouldn't there be a lot of burntout aircraft on the deck? Seems a bit squeaky clean, but having said that, I still think it is a superb render for a Bryce picture. Great POV and I like the mostly sunk destroyer.

From Mrs RG19: Mr.RG19 says the historical photo has no planes on the deck.
