Description

way up on the sides of Verzasca valley, the smallest parish in Switzerland with only 19 citizens today. They went autonomous in 1822, when there still lived nearly 300 citizens mainly from cattle. Not until 1850 there was build a single track road up there and until then cattle had to be driven on muletracks to the Maggadino Plains near Bellinzona for the wintertime. Thanks a lot for viewing!

It does look isolated but that really lends to its charm. I bet it gets cold here. Fabulous view.

A headspinning capture of the deep valley and all its isolated greenery, Ulla! Since they have no way out, I suspect the inhabitants don't mind getting snowed-in every winter.
