Description

Continuing on from yesterday’s post. My navigational estimate was correct and I find myself standing almost atop “The Wave” and quite thrilled with the POV looking right out the entrance. At this point completely absorbed in the downward view I’m paying no mind to the sandstone formations jutting up from the mesa around me. Yesterday’s post is just a few meters behind me to the left. Its shadow runs down behind the small scrubby sagebrush (bottom left). The shadow running down the mesa, almost appearing like my head in the photo, is actually another sandstone formation just a few meters behind me to the right. It is at least 350 meters in elevation difference down to “The Wave”; my head isn’t that big…lol. Full view is recommended. The textures and colors are quite remarkable through some of the tier just above “The Wave”. In some of the early posts of this series, back in July and August, there was mention of some of the unofficial names I have given formations. This birds eye view is a good map for that: to the right above “The Wave” it kind off looks like brain coral and so unofficially “The Reef”. To the left above “The Wave”: it having more freestanding shapes I dubbed it “The Sea Garden”. Could not see “The Swirl” from here. Continuing left of “The Sea Garden” I estimate it to be some 600 meters further around the bend. The red hues beyond the whites of the mesa is “Sand Cove”, an official name. :~) Thanks for the wonderful comments and favs on Part IV. ;~)
