Description

Melanie sat on the throne, lost in sad contemplation. Knowing that she would never see the chiseled, handsome face of her husband again and that all those passionate moments they had enjoyed together would be forever a thing of the past. He would never be coming home to her again. He had reveled in thinking that he would find adventure and notoriety amongst his comrades in far off Romania fighting the Turks with Count Vlad, defending the honor of the Cross and his Country. Once before they had driven the mighty Turkish army back to the borders of Romania but this time had been different. This time the Turks had been driven to a mad frenzy by the actions of Count Vlad, impaling hundreds of the enemy and leaving the bodies on those terrible wooden spikes, strung out along countless miles of roads linking Transylvania to the boarders, common to both Transylvania and Greater Romania. Vlad had gone mad with bloodlust and his hatred of the Turks was legendary, surpassing even that of his Father, the olde Dragon of Transylvania himself. This Son of the Dragon had even gone as far as having the turbans of the Turkish ambassadors nailed to their heads, just for the insult of not removing those same turbans while under his roof. An imaginary insult, at that, for their religion and custom forbade them removing their headgear and even if he did not know this (which some doubted) he had used this as an excuse to murder every one of them to the last man. So here sat Melanie. Poor Melancholy Melanie. Lost in her sadness and hating the very name of the Count. "I hate you, Vlad Tepes. May the devil take you, Dracula !!" was all she could think...

Hope this one finds you all safe and healthy as we approach the days marking "All Hallow's Eve" and just thought I would match this seasons mood with a little story of Malanie and her hatred for a very well known Count.... Happy Halloween to you all in case I don't get to write before the holiday.... don't eat too much Candy and keep safe from what ever ghosts or goblins you may happen to cross paths with... gene

"You're looking a litle melancholy today." "Are getting enough fiber in your diet?" "You should try that new gladiatrix prune juice battle cocktail it'll pick you right up!" Really fabulous work!
