Description

AlooooooooHa~ Another shot from my Sundays shoot of the lava overtaking the viewing area in Kalapana on the Big Island. Outbreaks like this one happen after the lava has no where to go and pushes through the newly formed crust. It's very slow moving, and so beautiful to watch. This was shot while it was still quite dark out. Big Mahalo's for stopping by and for all your comments on my last lava post. A peaceful week to all~ Aloha~

A stunning image! If I ever get to the big island I expect you'll be easy to recognize. You'll be the one with no eyebrows.

Stunning! A pic right for a geological magazine. When I was a student our professors had shown lots of pics and dias with their projectors. I wish they had pics like this in their portfolio. Great!

I'm thrilled to see through your eyes... I will probably never see a real lava flow in my life, so your pictures mean that much more to me = cool shot.

This is fantastic! I am glad I discovered these. The world is such an interesting place when you take the time to stop and look at it, especially when something like land formation is taking place. It's not something a Chicago guy gets to see, and yet...there it is...at least on my monitor. Fantastic. I love the intensity of this, despite its visual subtlety. Wonderful work; lava is such a sensual thing! I love it...not enough to touch (until it's cool) but I love it nonetheless.
