Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Nice shot Marilyn this looks cool, that's a lot of steps to climb "phew". Well done!!

Oooh, I like this shot! The angle makes it seem...well...cinematic in that sort of Alfred Hitchcock way, only he never filmed anything in Chicago. It was so much fun watching you and Tara looking at fire escapes! They're a bit of visual fun in this city, and they're disappearing, so this is a great "historical" capture as well as a great photo just on its own. I love this shot!

Well actually I love it! It's not my fault that one of my legs is twice as long as the other! Hence the lean/walking around in circles thing. But seriously, for some reason our buildings never have those metal fire escapes like all yours seem to. I don't know why....

great shot...

Oh, great tipsy shot. I would guess that as the fire escapes vanish one by one into history that the buildings are either being replaced or reconditioned to have fire-proof stairwells internally. I stayed in a Korean hotel in Seoul that had a red box by the window (I was on the 10th floor). I was horrified to see that the red box contained a rope ladder to be used in emergency. There were no fire escapes. Can you imagine???

This is the same building on Tara's post just another angle! Cool! She mentions the fire stairwells! Excellent POV Marilyn and I like the tilt and a great dedi to our friend "Down Under"... LOL....

Wow. Talk about GMTA! Look at my post from slightly earlier in the evening (and read what I said about the fire escapes). Here I thought I'd waited long enough, and you go post another shot of those damned fire escapes! LOL! This is great, and it's a totally different shot from the first one. They're both way cool! And b&w, too ... !!! Excellent work. (I see Carin noticed it!) :)

GMTA - I had to Google it. I am feeling old!!! :>) So the "Andrew POV" catches on. I'm happy with that. Everything can't be perfect everytime. Great fire escape and I've always worried about that bottom part not getting me those last 20 feet. Dana

Classic photo. It has that 1930s journalistic look about it. Excellent.
