I have got so many animal images that I have decided to start posting some of them. They might not be as exciting as the "Big Five" animals but some of them are pretty darn cool!
This is one of my favourite antelopes - The Sable. They are such gracious creatures and I love the horns! In Afrikaans it is called Swartwitpens which, directly translated, means Black-White-Stomach....

I actually prefer the not big five, I think because we see quite a bit of them on British TV. So this is agreat treat, Carin, and do keep telling us the Afrikaans..SO interesting!

Oh, those horns are wonderful. Do they make musical instruments from them? I can see a lovely harp in them. He's really richly black, isn't he, with a heavy upper build. And from your superb photo, it seems their ears really pivot well!

Ooh, I love the sound of Afrikaans...it's like Dutch with a suntan. Sables are graceful creatures and this one is very, very male! Animals are always so incredible fascinating, especially in terms of their color patterns...I mean, what possible purpose could those pants with such a white seat serve?! Fantastic capture. And I'll bet you didn't know that Sables wore pants! :-) Wonderful work!
