I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

Oh my, Carin, words to ponder for sure. I hear what you are saying--loud and clear. Your foto reflects those words beautifully. Take care, my friend.

gorgeous photograph! RS

True words, certainly. A strong composition! Images mean so many different things to different people.. for me this epitomises the isolation that marriage can impose on an individual, and the concurrent loss of friends to exclusive partnerships.

They look stranded on their little island lol. Great capture and reflections Carin!

Wow, there are some deep currents in this river - "stille waters... " (Afrikaans) Take a look at the goats again, Carin, and smile! Cheers, Clive

Superlative image, with the title apparently reflecting your current life situation, which doesn't sound too cool, and which I have no inkling or knowledge of, Carin.

Ummmm, quack :) "gigglesnort" (stolen from Jazzie) well, it makes me laugh when she does it to me. Take care Carin, you have lots of friends.

One of my favorite quotes is from Goethe: "Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back ... the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred." Miskien kan ons gesels hierdie naweek, Dierbaar. Ek het jou lief :X

The photo is wonderful. As for the philosophical thinking, I guess it is the old half-full or half-empty thing again. Some people see everything as one or the other. Some of us see it one way one day and the other way another day. Thinking of Andrea's comment, my fondest moments go back to the joy of being alone..., "Just the two of us." So, I see these as two lucky ducks:)
