I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

Marvelous shot and capture!

Beautiful capture Carin. Cool reflection and with both ducks looking at the same place. When I get in a slump, I scoop up my grand daughter and tickle her(Victoria)until I can't help but to start laughing myself. You have posted photos of Kayla before. She can make you laugh, for sure. Hugs, Dana

I feel a little sadness in your words... I hope that nothing serious happened! Wonderful reflections!

Oh, this is amazing! I love the crisp, intense clarity of this. On a level this seems strangely otherworldly. The science fiction writer in me always sees weird similarities to things like "survey probe" images uploaded to the relay satellite network/mother-ship/home base, etc. It has that whole "new world discovered" vibe, complete with crisp, sharp images of the native life forms. Of course, on the real-world flipside of that, this is a gorgeous image: wonderful environmental photography with a relaxing mood to it.

You seem to have a lot on your mind and life lessons that you are struggling with. Things will become better, no matter whats happening. Your mind will slow and then so will all the questions. Meanwhile, keep taking photos and doing what you do best=Being YOU!!!!

I promised I wasn't gonna keep writing long comments, but I can't let this go without gushing a little. (I'm not skipping your current work, btw, I just wanted to see some of what I missed...) I can't believe this has 2 favs: I thought it would have 20. I was dazzled by it. As one moves 'down', the soft focus on top gives way to this wholly eye-popping two birds on a patch of land, and beautiful reflections below. It's a small universe unfolding to sheer clarity. Once again, you get modulated light & hue beautifully, you paint with them. And you move from moody reflections, top, to brilliant clarity. You're really good, Carin! Re your words, I've found in my life that the relationships worth having are risks. Because we spill our insides, we try to hold someone else's, it's messy, scary, can often fail, etc etc. But the rewards are immense when they work. Someone told me that my risks have worked more than not, and I should be thrilled with that because the good so outweighs the bad. She was right (even though I tried to learn from every one that fell apart). I think people who commit deeply must have periods of real pain & disappointment, not to mention loss. I've never seen a person who committed deeply who didn't. If you're in a dark period, or coming out of one, I get the feeling you've committed heavily and this is just what commitment entails. I hope things are better now...I was always amazed, as I studied the arts, that the greatest masterpieces were done while the artist was going crazy. We get their 'light', while they were tearing their hair out; which means their light never went out, ever. I see yours doesn't either. I hope it shines on you, because it obviously has shined on others. Sorry if you're struggling these days & months, but I hope light is dawning even in the darkness. Struggle can take soooooo long...Wonderful pic & fave #3.
